Peter Benson holds a degree from Vancouver Film School as well as an honors degree in Communications from Carleton University. In 2009 Peter was selected to participate in the prestigious Totally Television Program through the National Screen Institute (NSI), for a series he wrote and co-created with his wife and producing partner Julia. They went onto receive a development deal for their project with City TV. In 2010 City TV ordered a pilot episode of their series Kits, on which Peter acted as the Executive Producer and head writer. Later in 2010 Peter also co-wrote, produced and directed the short film Scott’s Land with Ben Ayres (Dan for Mayor) and film went on to get rave reviews, garnering Peter a Leo nomination for his work on the project.
Peter has also been a very successful actor in addition to writing and producing. Peter has over 50 film and television credits, having played the leads in a several films including Christmas Lodge, The Break-up Artist, and The Wingman. Peter also lent his talents to the CBC series jPod and was recently seen on the highly acclaimed drama The Killing on AMC.
Peter is about to make his directorial debut in a comedy feature called What an Idiot that he and his wife Julia wrote, produced, and are starring in together.
