They look so good … it’s a shame they’re so bad

Disney has released the first images of the new villains from the highly anticipated sequel to the 2015 summer smash, Descendants. Disney Channel’s Descendants 2 will premiere in 2017 and takes viewers to the Isle of the Lost, the home of the world’s most famous villains and their offspring. New villains in the sequel include Uma, daughter of Ursula (A.N.T. Farm and House of Payne star, China Anne McClain), Gil, son of Gaston (played by Dylan Playfair) and Harry, son of Captain Hook (The Lodge star, Thomas Doherty). And if you enjoyed Descendants-inspired clothing available at Kohl’s, perhaps you’ll soon be able to rock these malcontent’s looks too.

Director Kenny Ortega is excited to introduce a pirate element to the second Descendants film. He explains, “It seemed natural for a pirate gang including the offspring of Ursula, Captain Hook and Gaston to emerge as we take audiences deeper into the Descendants world.”

And Ortega continues the fish-dish on the above pic of Uma saying, “She’s flanked here by her devoted henchmen, Harry, Captain Hook’s son, her right-hand man who is always ready for action, and the handsome yet thick-headed Gil, Gaston’s son.” I admit, I always thought that Gaston was pretty hot.

In the original music-driven smash Descendants, the teenage sons and daughters of Disney’s most infamous villains — Mal, Evie, Carlos and Jay  — tried to find their place in idyllic Auradon. They were invited enrollees at Auradon prep, the academic home of the progeny of fairytale-dom’s greatest heroes.

In the new adventure, the pressure to be royally perfect becomes too much for Mal, so she returns to her rotten roots on the Isle of the Lost. She finds that her archenemy Uma, the daughter of Ursula, has taken her spot as self-proclaimed queen of the berg for baddies. Uma is still sore that she wasn’t selected to attend Auradon Prep with the other Villain Kids.  She and her pirate gang break the barrier between the Isle of the Lost and Auradon, and unleash all the villains imprisoned on the Isle.

In Descendants 2, Dove Cameron (Liv and Maddie), Cameron Boyce (Gamer’s Guide to Pretty Much Everything, Jessie), Booboo Stewart (X-Men Days of Future Past), Sofia Carson (Adventures in Babysitting) and Mitchell Hope reprise their starring roles as Mal, Carlos, Jay, Evie and King Ben.
