Part Time Fundamentals

Are you ready to dive into the art of on-camera acting? In our part-time on-camera fundamentals acting classes, you will learn the basics of acting for the camera, including how to approach a script, how to make strong character choices and how to deliver authentic performances on camera while learning from experienced industry professionals. Join us and start your journey towards becoming a confident and skilled on-camera actor!

CLASS DESCRIPTION

Before you learn to run, you’ve got to learn to walk, right? Whether you are brand new to the industry or looking to get back to basics, our Fundamentals classes are designed to provide actors with the essential tools to sharpen their craft. Our classes explore the building blocks of acting, from learning about the industry to finding your emotional truth within a scene, through a mixture of lecture-based classes and exercises that allow you to put your learning into practice. Learn basic text analysis skills, scene study, and on-camera auditioning techniques such as finding your light and eyelines. Feel confident stepping into any class – be it Audition or Scene Study – with the Fundamentals behind you.

Pre-Requisite: No previous experience required.

Course Summary: This class will focus on the Essentials (Fundamentals) of Auditioning and Scene Study. Giving you tools to approach text not only from a technical point of view but also accessing your emotional truth and how to put that in your work without losing the integrity of the scene. Useful for beginners as well as seasoned actors having trouble accessing their emotions in their work

Meet Your Instructor

Beverley Elliott

With over 100 film and TV credits to her name, Beverley Elliott is known around the world for her recurring role as ‘Granny’ on the ABC hit series ONCE UPON A TIME. Other film credits include Clint Eastwoods’ Oscar winning film UNFORGIVEN, SISTERHOOD OF THE TRAVELING PANTS, WHO’S HARRY CRUMB and several made for tv, Hallmark and Lifetime films, including lead roles in THE MISTLETOE SECRET, EAT DRINK AND BE MARRIED, ALL THINGS VALENTINE and ONCE UPON A CHRISTMAS. Television credits include: recurring roles on KINGDOM HOSPITAL, HOPE ISLAND, HARPERS ISLAND, and BORDERTOWN.

Beverley is featured in several indie films including NEVER STEADY, NEVER STILL, A MOTHER’S INSTINCT and PUPPET KILLER. Her theatrical career has taken her across Canada, working in over 50 plays, most recently with her own original works …SINK OR SWIM, which she performed at the United Solo Festival in NYC and won best musical, and DIDN’T SEE THAT COMING (Both winning Pick of the Vancouver Fringe Festival 2014 and 2016). Beverley has released five CD’s of original music, including 2 children’s CD’s She is an active storyteller at the Vancouver FLAME and performed 3 times at the Moth in NYC and can be heard on Public Radio out of New York with her original story and song Yellow Dress. Beverley has been teaching young students for the past 8 years and finds incredible joy in igniting young souls into the world of the performing arts.

Jeff Evans-Todd

Meet Your Instructor

Jeff Evans-Todd is an actor, writer and voice-over artist located here in Vancouver. He is involved in numerous projects, both on-screen and off. He is a member of multiple theatre groups, for which he has been featured in several on-stage productions. Graduating from the Acting for Film, Television and Voice-over Intensive at Vancouver Acting School, Jeff has garnered acting and voice-over credits in productions such as Rogue, Tenkai Nights and Lego’s animated TV Series, Legends of Chima, for which he is the voice of Razar, Bladvic, Crawley and Lennox, among others. Jeff brings to all of his classes a positive energy and tenacious enthusiasm that will have everyone looking at voice-over acting in a whole new way.
