Becoming a student at one of Vancouver Acting School’s full-time diploma programs is simple:

2. SEND US THE SUBMISSION MATERIALS FOR YOUR PROGRAM
Students are required to submit specific portfolio samples or schedule an acting audition, depending on the program. See below to find out what you need to send us. Admission materials can be submitted via e-mail, regular mail, or in person at Vancouver Acting School.
For each program there is an English Language Requirement:
Applicants with mature students status, and/or students whose first language is not English, below are the minimum scores required from any one of the following tests in English proficiency: IELTS, TOEFL, TOEIC or Cambridge. If necessary, we may also require a telephone or in-person interview.
- International English Language Testing Service (IELTS): minimum score required is overall 6.0
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): minimum score required is 68 for the internet-based exam, 190 for the computer-based exam and 520 for the paper-based exam
- Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC): minimum score required is 700
- Cambridge First Certificate in English (FCE): minimum level achieved B1
Screenwriting
To qualify for full-time training in Vancouver Acting School’s Screenwriting Program: applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Submit (a) a synopsis of an original film or TV show concept (600 – 1,000 words); and (b) a comparison/contrast summary of two or more other films or television series that are similar in tone or structure, identifying elements in common with the applicant’s concept (600 – 1,000 words).
- Graduated from Grade 12 or equivalent (BC high school diploma, BC Adult Graduation Diploma, General Educational Development (GED)), or equivalent completion of a secondary school from another jurisdiction; or have mature student status (age 19 prior to the start of classes) and demonstrated competence at the appropriate level of literacy, numeracy, comprehension and/or written skills to enable success in the program.
- The admission criteria cannot be waived by either the school or the applicant.

Acting Conservatory
To qualify for full-time training in Vancouver Acting School’s Acting Conservatory Program: applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Successfully pass a scheduled audition measured on: quality of performance, preparation and a personal interview.
- Complete, or be enrolled in, Vancouver Acting School’s 6-month Acting: Film, TV, & Voice-Over Diploma Program or a comparable program of study so deemed by the senior educational administrator. (Qualifying “comparable programs of study” must consist of a minimum of 6 months of full-time study in the areas of acting, voice, movement or dance. Proof of study includes certificate, diploma or degree.)
- Graduated from Grade 12 or equivalent (BC high school diploma, BC Adult Graduation Diploma, General Educational Development (GED)), or equivalent completion of a secondary school from another jurisdiction; or have mature student status (age 19 prior to the start of classes) and demonstrated competence at the appropriate level of literacy, numeracy, comprehension and/or written skills to enable success in the program.

- Successfully pass a scheduled audition measured on: work ethic, willingness, and ability to receive and respond to direction.
- Graduated from Grade 12 or equivalent (BC high school diploma, BC Adult Graduation Diploma, General Educational Development (GED)), or equivalent completion of a secondary school from another jurisdiction; or have mature student status (age 19 prior to the start of classes) and demonstrated competence at the appropriate level of literacy, numeracy, comprehension and/or written skills to enable success in the program.
